Meet the new Project Director Subsea

With around 20 years of experience in subsea engineering, particularly within Workover and Riserless Light Well Intervention (RLWI), Thor Erik Lien has joined Advantek as Project Director Subsea.

His experience spans the full engineering lifecycle, from concept development and system design to offshore operations and decommissioning. In his new role, he will help strengthen Advantek’s subsea engineering capability and work closely with customers to deliver practical, high-quality engineering support.

We asked him about his background, his new role and what customers can expect from Advantek.

Tell us about yourself and your background.

I’ve worked in the subsea industry for around 20 years, mainly within Well Intervention and Workover systems. During that time, I’ve been involved in all phases of the engineering lifecycle, from early studies and system design to offshore operations and decommissioning.

I’ve held several engineering and technical leadership roles, including Project Engineer, Lead Engineer, System Engineer and Technical Manager. My main area of expertise is Riserless Light Well Intervention (RLWI), and I enjoy working with customers to find practical solutions to technical challenges.

What attracted you to Advantek?

Advantek already has a strong team of experienced subsea engineers and close relationships with its customers. I saw an opportunity to help further develop that capability and expand what we can offer.

It’s a company with solid technical expertise and the flexibility to support customers in different ways, which is something I value.

What does your role involve?

My role is to strengthen Advantek’s subsea engineering offering and support customers with engineering deliveries, specialist advice and dedicated work packages. A large part of my work is understanding each customer’s technical and operational needs, so we can provide the right expertise and practical solutions for every project.
