How did you find Advantek?

After my graduation I got my first job as a mechanical engineer consultant with a customer within the logistics sector as my first assignment. After about a year there, I got in contact with Advantek.

I was initially contacted by David Ceder, consultant manager, who reached out to me about potential opportunities. We met for lunch, and our conversation gave me a very positive impression of Advantek, particularly regarding the culture and potential clients.

I got the impression that this was not some typical mundane corporate beige company. Rather, I got a feeling of familiarity, friendliness and enthusiasm. It made me feel very welcome before I had even started.

What kind of assignments have you worked with?

Boths of my assignments have been within pallet logistics. My first assignment was with with pallet conveyors. I worked with customer projects, which involved product configuration and customization for customer needs. I also worked with mechanical implementation of safety standards, which involved redesigning products with regards to new regulation.

Today, my primary area of focus has been batteries for pallet trucks. Most of this work has been regarding production optimization but also implementation of customer needs. Me and my team also work a lot with product and production maintenance. This involves the products that are already in mass production, where work can be done to improve product or process quality, reduce costs or other production improvements.

My current assignment has provided challenges for me to learn, try new things, gain experience and grow my competence, both as an engineer and as a leader.

Let me know about your role now, as a group manager, what are the best things about this new role?

Being able to provide my perspective on our operations to make the company better. Both to make things better for our engineers but also to deliver better service to our clients. It also makes me happy that my colleagues have the trust and confidence in me to take on this new role.

What tips do you have to others aiming for a leadership role/their first job?

Think about people you know in leadership positions that you look up to. See how they work and consider what you can learn from them. Also think about what unique perspectives you have that can be of value for others and put them forward. You can also start by identifying opportunities in your current role where you can take on more responsibility to show that you are willing and ready for it.

Looking forward, what do you see yourself doing in the future?

I enjoy working together with others to make ideas come to life. I like having a leadership position while still being involved in the product development. I also like planning and having a bird’s eye view of projects and processes. I could see myself being a project- or product manager.
